Pamela Silva Díaz

Pamela Silva Díaz is a mechanical engineer, human-centered designer, and social innovation leader with more than a decade of experience helping organizations and communities design products, services, and systems that address social and environmental challenges. She is the founder of PamLab Design and Engineering, a consulting practice focused on social innovation, community-led design, and environmental sustainability.

Pamela began her career in aerospace before shifting her work toward resilience, recovery, and community-centered innovation in Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane María. Since then, she has partnered with nonprofits, community groups, researchers, and mission-driven organizations in Puerto Rico and internationally to co-design practical, human-centered solutions that strengthen climate resilience, support livelihoods, expand access to essential services, and advance environmental stewardship.

Her work has included co-developing community resilience hubs and the technologies and services that support them; creating tools to support livelihoods and traditional craft with Indigenous communities in Latin America; designing accessible hardware for wetland and ocean conservation; and leading design research and service strategy for community-centered initiatives and public-facing spaces.

Pamela is a National Geographic Society Explorer and holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Michigan.
